The biggest takeaway I had from reading chapter 2 of this book was John Piper's reminder of Jesus being God and the fact that "in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9 NIV). I love what he wrote in pages 39 and 40:
"If we would see and savor the glory of God, we must see and savor Christ. For Christ is the 'image of the invisible God' (Colossians 1:15). To put it another way, if we would embrace the glory of God, we must embrace the Gospel of Christ...When we embrace Christ, we embrace God. We see and savor God's glory. There is no savoring of God's glory if we do not see it in Christ. This is the only window through which a sinner may see the face of God and not be incinerated"
("Don't Waste Your Life", John Piper, pg. 39, 40).
This chapter really reminded me that our worship must be unashamedly centered around Christ and the work He has done for us as believers. My prayer is that we would not be afraid to worship and proclaim the Gospel of Christ in our songs and our lives. I pray that our homes centered around Jesus Christ.
"...His death and resurrection are the central act of God in history"
("Don't Waste Your Life", John Piper, pg. 38).
